Janelle White

Janelle’s work is usually figurative, often in a retrospective way. She is drawn to painting people, often crowds of them, often beach side and often vintage. She uses her own and found anonymous 1950s home movies and photos as reference, to construct a scene and paint a fleeting moment in time, where the intention is to create a visual sense of what it is to hold something in memory where the details are blurry but the feeling remains.
Equally inspired by the natural beauty around her and being so close to beaches and lakes, Janelle likes to paint places and landscapes and is unable to resist the challenge of painting water.
Janelle has had four solo exhibitions since 2010 and has been part of many group exhibitions. A finalist for The Gosford Art Prize 8 times and Hunters Hill Art Prize 10 times.
Awards include: People’s Choice Winner- Hardyscapes 2025; Winner- Grandma Moses Prize 2015; People’s Choice Award-Small Works 2015; Highly Commended-Artspace 2023.
Nel Davis
Nel Davis is never happier than when turning daydreams into beautiful watercolours.
Nel divides her time between Sydney and the NSW Central Coast, and spends a lot of time thinking on representation of the landscape on painted paper. Nel has participated in several group exhibitions in Sydney and beyond. Many of her paintings are held in private collections, including a number of commissioned works.
In the short time she has been painting there have been several awards: Winner of Castle Hill Art Society annual art awards, small painting, 2023; Winner of Castle Hill Art Society Christmas Challenge 2023; Winner of Central Coast Watercolour Society October Challenge 2023; Finalist, Northern Beaches Gallery Summer Exhibition 2023 and 2024.
She says: “I desire to paint the dream, and for the viewer to see that I’m playing with light, colour, and the crazy nature of watercolour. I have so much to learn. Every day seems to bring a new discovery on technique and expression. I’m loving the journey.”
