Art Express at Central Coast Grammar School

The first time since Covid, Central Coast was home to the Art Express exhibition, coinciding with the school’s spring fair. There was some wonderful art, showing the talent of over 30 artists from the Central Coast.

The Castle Hill Art Society exhibition is always a highlight of the Orange Blossom Festival. I felt honoured to be awarded Highly Commended for my small painting ‘Before I go to Church’. Inspired by a visit to the magical village of Billeneeve-Loubet in the South of France.

Grassfed Artists 1 – 25 July 2025 – THE VERANDAH GALLERY

Joining Nel Davis to exhibit at The Verandah Gallery:

Carolyn Doherty Carolyn is a Sydney-based artist, working in oil and acrylic paints. She has also created assemblages from found objects and bronze sculpture. I like to find new ways of seeing a landscape or delving into the flora, so that each work challenges the viewer. Nature is always at the heart of my inspiration, as without looking after the environment, we have nothing.

Susan Packard is an Australian contemporary abstract painter. She is drawn to creating impressions or feelings, rather than a representation of things Expectation and hope bubble up when she takes a blank canvas or wooden panel and starts building up layers upon layers of acrylic paint.  “I hope you, too, feel the hope and wonder I do when you look at my paintings”.

Grassfed Artists 28 April – 9 June 2025 – THE VERANDAH GALLERY

Three wonderful artists are joining Nel Davis to exhibit at The Verandah Gallery.

Caroline Pullinger is inspired by the bush and landscape. She is a frequent exhibitor in group and art society productions and has had several small group exhibitions. Over the years Caroline’s work has enjoyed much success. Prizes include from the Sydney Royal and Castle Hill Agricultural Shows, Combined Sydney Art Societies, Lane Cove Council Art Awards, Hawkesbury Show and Parramatta Foundation Art Award.

Cylene Whiteley‘s work is a reflection of her appreciation for the natural world. She is a regular in local exhibitions and has received awards for her work. In 2019 she had the opportunity to hold a joint exhibition  with three other artists in the  Sydney Botanic Gardens. This led onto a solo exhibition at the same venue. Cylene found the success of the solo exhibition an important milestone. Particularly the satisfaction of meeting the people who purchased her work to take back to far flung destinations in Australia and overseas.

Maxine Collins is inspired by the shapes, colours, textures and play of light that surrounds her. These are captured beautifully in her paintings. Maxine’s work has won her many awards over the years, and she has been featured in Creative Artist magazine in 2016. Her paintings can be found in both Australian and overseas collections..

Image – Nel Davis – THE LONG WEEKEND

The first exhibition at The Verandah Gallery will feature works of the award-winning artists Dennis Whalen and Janelle White.

Dennis Whalen specialises in still life paintings in the Flemish technique, and in botanical paintings. His works are held in many Australian and overseas collections. His first award winning work, at age 13, was hung in the Pentagon.  Since then, many Australian and international awards, along with features in numerous, prestigious magazines and monographs.

The work of Janelle White will captivate and delight.  She is a full-time artist inspired by her local environment. Janelle’s unique style is also strongly influenced by the vintage feel of her family’s home movies! Janelle’s work has been seen in many solo and group exhibitions, and it is not surprising to know she has received many awards and finalist selection in art exhibitions across the country.
